Halloween 11

So there was this nice demon...
... who could really hit the high notes and appreciated a good Sea Breeze.

We had our usual Halloween gathering, but not on Trick or Treat night which was actually nice. We, of course, regathered a bit for Trick-or-Treating, so it was like getting two Halloweens.

There were epic battles.
Children of the night.

A good variety of creatures and heroes (and a cupcake).

Treats for having and sharing. We estimate about 180 trick-or-treaters.

And our humble pumpkins as well as the Minnebo's wowser-o'-lanterns.

Dia de los Muertos

Friday: Pumpkin Carving

The costumes:  Athena (I am not a princess I am the goddess of wisdom and war) and Flash (seen here mind-controlled by Starro).

Stick Man?  What Stick Man?

Saturday: Trick or Treating with Elizabeth Swan, a Knight Templar and Baby Death Santa Claus in Pajamas.  You know how sometimes you'll see someone else in the same costume?  We did just once. Baby Death Santa Claus in Pajamas.  Really.

We were also joined by Baby Sweet Pea.  Mostly the moms gave out the snacks.  Literal snacks in our case as we are now "the house that gives out chips."

As you can see, Baby Audrey already has figured it out.  In fact, she must be pretty on the ball, since she is the only one who notices the figure in the background!

Worst werewolf ever.  Even if it's a decent Rum Tug Tugger. Good thing Ysabela likes cats.
Sunday:  monster cupcakes at church.  Good turn out of kids made some really excellent monster cupcakes.  These are our pals Gwen and Tess with their creations.

Sorry so slow to post.  As you can see, a grand time was had by all.  As usual, click on a picture for the full glory.

All Hallow's Eve 2009

Always with the fighting, those Jedi.

Halloween was oddly sedate this year, with limited trick-or-treating, but fun nonetheless. Minnebos came, with thier usual infusion of fun, food and fantastic art and costumes. In particular this year, Gregg's buzz generating $50, award-winning pumpkin. Karen put on the usual feast and we had a great stream of trick-or-treater-visitors. Hank and Marilynn somehow avoided the camera, bu grandma manned the door for a stretch, and Henry took Bela on her rounds.

Except for the smiling, that's Quinlan Vos.

And I know you'll want to see THE pumpkin. Judging from the number of photos taken last night, it should be all over the internet by this morning.

The kids gave out sugar skull awards this year. (First annual?) Some standard and some creative categories.

Halloween'een we got to take Marilyn out to dinner for a slightly belated 73rd birthday celebration. We went to the Boatwerks in Holland, terrific place, then back home for stout cake.

Halloween 08

Pumpkins and Skulls

Halloween. Fun isn’t it?
Well I had fun. Halloween at are house is always fun so i'm not surprised at all. I’m sure all are guest’s had fun too.
See most every year we have a Halloween party, miss Natalie comes over and a candy trading.
The trade is so kids who don’t like what they got or are allergic to it they can trade it for something better. Stuff no one wants is given to the parents.
Every year Miss Natalie comes over to show us her costume. This year she had an amazing Frida Kahlo costume and a frame.
The party was cool this year because this year as a bonus was the theme; the Mexican day of the dead.
Having the week before made the famous Mexican sugar skulls (unknowing Martha was doing the same thing molds and all.) everything was a perfect day of the dead celebration.
The kids also played town with my “Figurines” (action figures) so over all as you can see it’s fairly obvious at my house it’s impossible to not have fun.

Mad-Eye Moody and Lola LaFonda join the fairy, Superman and Hagrid, and closeups of X and Y.

Here's our artsy friends, Frida and Captain Hammer and...

...Who is that with Captain Hammer?

Drain, Baby, Drain!
